July 24th Rainstorm

This is a video of a storm that came through this morning, July 24th. If you watch it you will see the tree to the left fall on the power line. It knocked power out at my house for several hours today.

Above is another video of the storm that was taken earlier in the morning. Please excuse the bad filming it was pretty early in the morning.

A couple pictures of the storm can be found below

Above is a picture of the tree that fell on the powerline. It was a very powerful storm that did a lot of damage in the surrounding cities.

This was a picture of what the sky looked like after the storm this morning.

Singing in the Rain

This picture was taken on July 18th. It shows the kids down the street from us playing in the rain. It had been so long since we had any I wasn't sure they would remember what it was. The storm that followed was pretty bad, but in the beginning the kids were having a blast.
This is not officially a picture of weather, but I thought that it was a good way to show the lack of rain that we have been experiencing. There has been a county wide burn ban in effect since the second week in July. The county about two miles west even has a ban on grilling. This picture was taken on another abnormally warm day in July where the temperatures in Wisconsin reached over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Finally a storm is on the way

This is a picture that I took of a storm rolling in on Wednesday, July 18th. I wish I would have gotten better pictures of the storm, but I do have one for the next post that at least shows the rain. The storm brought about 1.7 inches to the area that has been in a severe drought for sometime. Evansville a town about 45 minutes away even had one-inch hail during this storm.

More Clouds

This picture was taken July 10th. I am not positive what kind of clouds these are but judging by the cloud guide in the text book, I believe they are stratocumulus. Not only because it resembles the picture in the text but because they are low layered clouds with areas of vertical development.

Coolest Clouds Ever

These are cumulonimbus with mammatus. The first three are really cool clouds that I saw when leaving a store in Delavan, WI on June 29th and the last one is one I saw while driving south toward McHenry, IL later the same afternoon. I noticed them in the western horizon. After I took these pictures I even came home to see what kind of clouds they were in my text book. My friends said that they even posted pictures of these clouds on there facebooks.

Cumulus Congestus

This is an example of cumulus congestus. This picture was also take on June 16th. I think that these clouds cool looking and I think it is fun to stare at them and see how many different things you can see in them.

Cumulus Cloud

This is a picture of a cumulus cloud. These clouds have flat bottoms and rounded tops. This is what our sky has looked like a lot over the past few weeks. This picture was taken on my cell phone on June 16th and I dont think our sky has changed much since then.
